HTIA Statement on the nomination of John Squires as USPTO Director

WASHINGTON – On May 21, 2025, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing for John A. Squires, nominated on March 11 by President Trump to serve as Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Below is a statement from Dave Jones, Executive Director of High Tech Inventors Alliance (HTIA):

“The USPTO is facing challenges, including a weakened IPR process and budget reductions that strain examiners, threatening the reliable patent system American innovators count on.
